Trouble & Tea and the New Untouchables present another fantastic program for the 18th edition of the World famous EURO YE YE. As always we aim to have a mix of must not miss original artists and the best new breed live acts. Kicking the festival off on Thursday in the Plaza Mayor we have a free concert with the first ever performance of DON FARDON with UK blue eyed soul band DC FONTANA. Don will revisit his 1966-71 hits including “I’m Alive” which featured recently on the recent Five Alive drinks television advert as well as “Belfast Boy”, a hit record in 1970 taken from the TV documentary on the life of George Best who became a life-long friend. The rest of the live music and the allnighters take place at Discoteca OASIS. Other unique performances from original 60’s artists including the quintessential UK Psychedelic band KALIEDESCOPE featuring Peter Daltry, and on Sunday UK freakbeat legends THE SORROWS will perform their mid sixties catalogue including 1965 hit record “Take A Heart”.
Our new breed acts include garage punkers from Toledo LAS ASPIRADORAS who will get right into your head and shake your bones with a live show not to be missed. New kids on the block just 15 years old from Ireland THE STRYPES are tipped as the next big then with recent TV performances and a debut single straight in at number 44 in the Irish charts. Could this be the start of the new beat sensation?
A new feature for this year is the “battle of the bands” competition on Saturday afternoon at the Monkey Club with a fabulous prize of a recording session with Jorge Explosion at CIRCO PERROTTI studios in Gijon and a 45 release on Spanish record label SATURN RECORDS.
After the live music Europe’s finest DJs will play 100% vintage vinyl over two dance floors in a superb venue built in 1968, just a five minute walk from the seafront of Gijon.
However Euro Ye Ye is not just about the music we celebrate all aspects of the culture with scooter runs to beautiful locations around Asturias, art exhibitions featuring seminal Mod band THE ACTION with original artwork included in the forthcoming book “ In The Lap Of The Mod’s” and the talented Italian artist MAX GALLI. We also screen cult films at an old cinema in the City during the festival and during the allnighters and the afternoon events we have a vinyl record fair and retro market with various scene fashion houses.
All this set to the backdrop of this beautiful area of Spain called Asturias, with its excellent beaches, great food, perfect weather and Sidra, a local cider that tastes so good without the banging headaches of the British equivalent.

El Weekender Mod/60s más especial del mundo
Trouble&tea, y The New Untouchables presentan otro programa fantástico para la 18 ª edición del famoso Euro YE YE. Como siempre, nuestro objetivo es conseguir una combinación de artistas originales y las mejores bandas del momento en directo. Comenzando con el festival el jueves en la Plaza Mayor tenemos un concierto gratuito con la primera actuación en España de Don Fardon y la banda inglesa de blue eyed soul DC FONTANA. Don volverá a repasar sus éxitos de 1966-71 como "I'm Alive", que apareció recientemente en el anuncio de bebida para TV de Five Alive, así como "Belfast Boy", su disco de éxito en 1970, creado para el documental sobre la vida del controvertido futbolista George Best quien se convirtió en su amigo para toda la vida. El resto de la música en vivo y los allnighters se celebrarán en la Discoteca Oasis. Otras actuaciones únicas de artistas originales de los 60 a destacar son las de la banda psicodélica por excelencia del Reino Unido Kaleidescope con Peter Daltrey y una joven banda con miembros de los americanos Brian Jonestown Massacre, y el domingo el concierto de las leyendas del Freakbeat THE SORROWS que desarrollarán todo su salvaje catálogo de mediados de los 60 incluyendo su hit de 1965 "Take A Heart".
Nuestras bandas jóvenes incluyen a los punks del sonido garage LAS ASPIRADORAS quienes sacudirán nuestros huesos con un show en vivo totalmente demencial. También será inolvidable la actuación de “los nuevos chicos del barrio”. Con apenas 16 años desde Irlanda THE STRYPES parecen ser la próxima gran revelación , con recientes actuaciones en televisión, y un single de debut que directamente se ha colocado en el puesto número 44 en las listas irlandesas. ¿Será el comienzo de la nueva sensación beat mundial? Y aún más grupos por confirmar.
Una de las novedades para este año es la "batalla de las bandas", una competición a la usanza de las que se celebraban en los 60, en la tarde del sábado en el Monkey Club con el fabuloso premio de una sesión de grabación con Jorge Explosión en los estudios Circo Perrotti de Gijón estudios y la edición de un single con el sello Saturno Records.
Después de la música en directo, los mejores DJs de Europa pincharán 100% vinilo de época en dos pistas de baile en una dsicoteca extraordinaria, construida en 1968, a sólo cinco minutos a pie por el paseo marítimo de Gijón.
Sin embargo el Euro Ye Ye no es sólo música. En él, se celebran todos los aspectos de la cultura underground de los 60. La Scootercruzada exhibe y reúne Lambrettas y Vespas en ruta por hermosos lugares de Asturias, una exposición sobre la banda Mod The Action con material original incluido en el libro de próxima aparición "The Action: In The Lap of The Mods" y otra sobre el artista italiano Max Galli y su obra gráfica más reciente incluida en el libro “Midnight To Six”. También las películas de culto tiene su sitio en el programa con una excelente recopilación de joyas desconocidas y de gran interés de cine europeo y americano. Durante las allnighters y los eventos de la tarde tenemos stands de ropa y complementos 60's y una feria del disco de vinilo con varias firmas y negocios de nuestra escena.
Todo este conjunto con el telón de fondo de nuestra singular y preciosa Asturias, con sus excelentes playas, buena comida, clima perfecto y sidra a raudales.
