Here`s a brand new band hailing from Chelmsford in Essex, The Straights.They are, as a they, themselves describe, "A 4 piece indie rock `n` roll band", formed in 2005, the guys have been busy touring London & the south west tirelessly with many gigs confirmed around that area still today! And they have just released this 4 track e.p on Rub-Out Records, which is available from the link above.
Lemme introduce the band themselves, there`s Stuart, on vocals and rhythm guitar, Tony on Lead Guitar & vocals, James on Bass & Dan on Drums, major influences include, The Beatles, Oasis, Stereophonics & The Jam and diversify through the likes of the Cheeky Girls, the fat one in Emmerdale, Alcohol, Strippers & Scooters amongst a varied few! nice eh? These guys sound a great laugh!
Onto the music, "Get Myself Together", a fantastic opening track, definite Oasis influenced retro sound Guitar indie rock, "Happiness", another superb track catchy upbeat session reminds of The Coral!, "Life In The Old Dog", indie punker with Jam influences, just the way we like it! "The Day I Saw You", a guitar accoustic ballad proving the versatility of this new band!
2006 is proving to be a great year for The Straights, going by their webpage they`ve a busy Live schedule and with the quality of this debut release, we hope more releases are on the horizon soon too! .
