Here`s another top triumph for the Acid Jazz label, "The Lords First XI", a CD album comprising of 12 different stylish collaborations with Lord Large alongside the likes of Clem Curtis of The Foundations, UK Soultress, Linda Lewis & Northern Soul legend, Dean Parrish amongst others! All ensuring a Hammond fueled Soultastic experience.

Stephen "Lord" Large was a keyboard player with the band, Electric Soft Parade but recently has been on tour alongside The Ordinary Boys, The Dualers & Graham Coxon and recording with Glen Tilbrook from Squeeze as well as appearing on TV on Jools Holland`s Later with Jools and even The Paul O`Grady Show swinging with Rod Stewart. The other half of the Lord Large production team is Andrew J. Jones, a TV theme writer in his own right, he`s written many themes for TV and music for films such as, Fakers & Saving Grace. He has also been been gigging & recording recently with the likes of Morcheeba & The Shortwave Set. Quoting Acid Jazz, "Together, Large and Jones have managed to elicit help from the cream of British musicians and singing talent for the making of their first Lord Large album"

First up on this funky groove is the instrumental, "Sun In The Sands", a retro crescendo that spirals into a funky organ led beat sure to get your feet tapping if not outtta yer chair!, "Stuck In A Wind Up", featuring Clem Curtis from The Foundations, a funky Soul groover that will go down well on both the Mod & Soul Circuits, "Closer", Featuring Roy Phillips from The Peddlers, a cool sophisticated Jazzy organ-fest and for Mr Phillips Vocals, Outstanding!, "What Did I Do?", featuring Clem Curtis, another uptempo Soul number that`ll set the dancefloor on fire at a do near you soon I bet!, "Work It Out", features Linda Lewis, I can feel the Wigan Casino Influence with this one, fantastic tune! just has to be my pick of the bunch!, "Julianna", Clem Curtis stars again on this Funk/Country affair, "Heath Robinson", another funky instrumental that would go down well as a retro TV theme, "The Auctioneer", featuring Ashley Slater from Freakpower, a funky Modern Soul classic that works really well with Slater`s vocals stamping on that Freakpower thang!, "Way To Go" featuring Andrea Britton, The Trance singer goes retro with this modernised R&B riff, "Fading Light", features Robert Bradley, The Blues artist is amazing on this almost soft Reggae Blues number, "Left, Right & Centre", features Dean Parrish, doesn`t need any introduction surely? the phenomenal Weller Penned Soul sensation track of 2006? and the "12th man" as they say is, "Don`t Stick Around Too Long", featuring Glen Tilbrook of Squeeze, a glorious kick back to the late 70`s & early 80`s with Glen ensuring that Squeeze like harmony to the proceedings, great track to end upon too!

"Lord Large has crafted exquisitely elegant songs, lavishly laced them with strings, pianos and organ breaks, inserted the most delightfully hand-picked singing legends, and then wrapped it all up in a finest silk knot masterpiece" says Acid Jazz, So get on that smoking jacket, fold in that cravat & "tally ho chaps, it`s tea at elevenses!"

Another 12 juicy chunks of prime Acid Jazz quality with the essence of Hammond Soul Groove! Don`t dare be without this one!
